As you have most probably noticed the ZestCulture team was away for this weekend & found ourselves along the Garden Route. Now although it is one of the most beautiful areas in South Africa it doesn’t have the same kind of entertainment as we are used to in the city.

So we found ourselves looking for something to do while appreciating the breath taking views, wonderful landscapes & of course the mountains. So as we were already in Swellendam, we were looking for something to do on a beautiful Sunday morning. This is when it was suggested we go & have a look at the Two Feathers Horse trails

We arrived bright & early ( well not really that bright & not really that early) at the stables. We received a hearty welcome from Stephni who was going to be our guide for the morning. First she took us through the basics of horse riding & what to expect along the way. Then we were on our way.

Stephni took us into the mountains where we had a lovely morning ride surrounded by the beautiful Langeberg mountains. It is really an amazing experience being on the back of such a majestic animal and being so close to nature. Trotting along over gravel roads & the occasional stream or river.

Stephni informed me that they give horse riding lessons & do a various rides, from 1 hour rides to sleepover rides in a hut up in the mountain with picnics & all.

We surely enjoyed our ride today & would definitely recommend this as an activity for anyone that would find themselves in the Swellendam area. Keep your eyes peeled, ZestCulture will soon be giving away a weekend getaway for 2 with some surprises included.
